The internet seems to love nostalgia beyond pop culture. With the Slender Man and copy-paste ghost stories like Teresa Fidalgo receiving a second wind this year, it is not clear that there is a lot of truth in the dead girl story.
“I am Teresa Fidalgo and if you don’t post this on 20 other photos I will sleep with you forever,” the quote spammed at the bottom of thousands of Instagram pictures this week somewhat ambiguously warns.
“A mother died after her daughter ignored my message, 29 days later.” You can search for me even on Google. (sic).
You can actually search Teresa on Google. However, her vast search results don’t necessarily reflect her physical existence. They are more like a catalog of regurgitations or reworkings of a story that originated with Portuguese producer David Rebordao’s viral video “A Curva”.
The found-footage short Aping Blair Witch Project features a car full of friends driving through the mountains to pick up a hitchhiker who goes by the name Teresa Fidalgo.
The new passenger, who was mostly silent, eventually pointed out a spot on the road in front of her car where she “died”. With the camera panning back to her, it showed her face bloodied before the car crashed.
Although many White Lady stories have been told over the years, the story of Teresa Fidalgo and her alleged (but certainly phony!) links to an actual accident that took place on a Portuguese street have captured the imagination of teenagers.
Common sense may not prevail in the case of a teenage ghost who has the supernatural ability of haunting people via social media. The fact that she is subject to autocorrect errors like us (‘Teresa Dialog’ as she goes by one pic) does not diminish her story. However, Rebordao has admitted that this story is false.
Channel TVI was told by the director that he was surprised at the success of the story and its longevity. He is now trying to get funding for new scripted movies.
Who is the author of Teresa Fidalgo?
David Rebordao, a Portuguese content creator, is the writer of this story. This is a fascinating story about a girl. This video was shot in 2003 by David R. with his friends.
