Before we get to the characteristics of women, can you define the word “virtuous?” What does this word refer to? The word could mean “having excellent moral character” or “being clean”.
Many women think the notion of Proverbs 31 isn’t relevant to our current lives. However, my belief is that the Word of God has stood the test of time. God’s Word is still relevant to us today! Proverbs 31 Woman demonstrates how we can all be Proverbs 31 women as Christian women today.
A Virtuous Woman Meaning in the Bible?
The solution to the question, “What does a woman who is virtuous mean?” can be found in the book of Proverbs 31. In this book, a woman who is virtuous is one who has a positive impact as well as a diligent worker. A good manager, a good planner, and a gorgeous person.
It’s not about being the ultimate mother. Or the perfect wife. Or, the most perfect Christian woman.
This is a woman who is aware of the people she’s a part of, and that every successful work comes from living a life of faith that is guided by the Bible.
Proverbs 31:30 says, “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” She isn’t worthy of praise because of what she does but because of how she does them.
Be aware that all of us have failed to live up to the splendor of God. It is not necessary to strive for the perfectionism of others. Indeed, trying to achieve perfection in this world or in heaven can leave you feeling empty every time. God has made us all distinct.
“For he is our workmanship. To be made by Christ Jesus to do good works that God planned in advance, so to allow us to walk in these. ” Ephesians 2:10
You are able to become a Proverbs 31 lady. You simply have to be convinced of the truth that Jesus is the son of God and that he walked on earth to die for you so that you could live a long and happy life and beg God to forgive your wrongs. And then you must worship him with all your heart and mind!
“Love God, the Lord your God, to the core of your soul, and with all your being as well as with your entire heart.” Matthew 22:37
The 6 Virtues of the Proverbs 31 Woman
1. Marriage. She is a loyal bride.
A woman who is virtuous is one who respects her spouse. She is good to him throughout her life. She is reliable and is an aid to him. But she, most importantly, will be the wife of Christ.
There is no need for an earthly spouse to be a moral woman! (Proverbs 31: 11- 12, Proverbs 31: 23, Proverbs 31: 28, 1 Peter 3, Ephesians 5, Genesis 2: 18). The most important thing is that she fears the Lord.
2. She is a wonderful mother.
- “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her” (Proverbs 31:28).
A woman who is virtuous teaches and raises her children with the grace of God. She doesn’t make them feel uncomfortable, but she disciplines them with care and understanding.
She is concerned about your child’s educational development; she is there for them. She is committed, caring, and genuinely interested in their issues and struggles.
Furthermore, she is a multi-faceted person who is concerned about God’s will as well as her husband’s and kids’ wellbeing. She is a competent manager and someone with moral standards. She is also able to educate children with a gentle approach.
According to Proverbs 31, we read that a woman who is virtuous watches over the happenings in her home, but we know that in contemporary times, it is applicable to every aspect of an individual woman’s work.
3. A Woman of Valor
By being virtuous women, as women of courage, we are called to wear armor made by God and take all thoughts into submission to Christ! Aren’t those words awe-inspiring? Do you get the impression that God is looking at your life?
Put on all the armor of God so that you will be able to resist the schemes of Satan. Ephesians 6:11
For even though we are walking through the earth, we aren’t conducting war according to the flesh. Our weapons of combat are not made of flesh, but of God and have the power to take down strongholds. We take down arguments and any high-minded opinion that is a threat to the wisdom of God, and we commit every thought to submission to Christ. ” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
The woman who is virtuous in Proverbs 31 has great courage. She’s a woman out to accomplish something. She’s prepared to be willing and ready to take on any task or test. She is confident that God is by her side.
4. She is a tough worker.
- “She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens” (Proverbs 31:13-15)
- “She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant” (Proverbs 31:24).
- “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness” (Proverbs 31:27).
- “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:31).
A moral woman is, significantly, an extremely hard worker. She knows that her children and husband need to be fed properly. A moral, biblical woman possesses not only the cooking skills that are essential, but she is also knowledgeable about nutrition and will ensure your household is well-nourished.
The moral woman of the Bible isn’t lazy. She works tirelessly and isn’t grumpy while working on her work. She’s energetic, She doesn’t understand what idleness means.
It was critical for women to be able to use cloth during the time of the Old Testament. Today, women must be able to demonstrate some professional skills.
It’s not all about manual labor anymore. However, she must be concerned about the well-being of the family members. It is her responsibility to create a space of warmth and comfort for her family and guests.

5. A Noble Lady
Proverbs 31 describes the Proverbs 31 female, who is seen as being a noblewoman or a wife with noble character. The woman can also be described as a woman of valor.
I do not know about you, however, the word “valor” brings up images in my head of a woman who is aware of what she must do and then sets out to do it. There is a reason!
“Valor is a definition of extraordinary courage when faced with danger, especially in the field of battle.
In our role as women who are brave, like Proverbs 31 women, we’re fighting spiritual warfare. Keep in mind that it’s a woman’s faith that makes her virtuous, not a list of chores accomplished or to-do lists that are checked off. It’s her flexible heart, able to respond to God’s call.
“Be vigilant and have a calm mind. Your adversary, the devil, scurries all over like a roaring lion seeking a person to take in. ” 1 Pet. 5:8
“For we do not fight against blood and flesh, but rather, we wrestle with the kings and rulers, those in power, and against cosmic powers of this present darkness, and against the forces of evil that reside in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12
6. She is reliable.
- “The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain” (Proverbs 31:11).
- “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land” (Proverbs 31:23-31).
A moral woman in the Bible has respect for her husband. She is trustworthy and is admired by older people. Her husband is confident in her, and she has confidence in her husband.
She’s not rude, impatient, or unpredictable. She is never going to deliberately disappoint her husband.
According to Proverbs 31, we read that a moral woman is responsible for watching over the activities of her home. We know, however, that in contemporary times, this applies to all areas of a woman’s life.
This is the definition of a woman who is virtuous from the Old Testament times, but generally, these guidelines are applicable to any period of the past and every nation.
